Dear Supporter of American Energy,
A few weeks ago, we told you a secret about wind energy that its proponents don’t want you to know—wind energy relies on fossil fuels.
This week, we’re digging even deeper into the skeletons whirling around in wind energy’s closet.
Offshore wind and offshore oil and gas development projects have received a lot of attention in recent months. In this week’s video we compare an offshore wind project to a similar offshore natural gas project to find out how much energy we can expect from each. It might surprise you to learn that a single natural gas platform produces as much energy as 7,700 offshore wind turbines—enough to cover the entire state of Rhode Island.
Wind power is regularly touted as a way to end the use of fossil fuels, and many in Washington like to claim that offshore wind production is every bit as affordable and reliable as our traditional energy sources. They even claim that offshore wind production is safer, cleaner, and less visible than offshore production of oil and natural gas. But there’s a lot they’re not telling you.
That’s why the Institute for Energy Research is releasing another short web video that tells the whole story about offshore wind energy.
Where we get our energy matters. When government policies force us to use inefficient, expensive, and unreliable sources, we all pay more for our energy. Now, when proponents of wind power say it will reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and keep our beach views pristine, you will know the truth.
Thank you for taking the time to watch our video. We hope you’ll enjoy it, and, if so, send it to your friends or leave us a comment. We are grateful to have you as a partner.
