New IER Video Makes the Economic Case for Developing America’s Vast Energy Resources
WASHINGTON – A newly released web-based video launched by the Institute for Energy Research (IER) today lays out a compelling case for why expanding access to affordable supplies of American energy represents the best and most immediate way that Congress and the administration can stimulate our flagging economy.
“At a time when policy-makers in Washington are looking for ways to deliver us from our current economic condition, this video makes plain that a sensible alternative to government-run, mandate-heavy energy policy resides right below our feet,” said IER president Thomas J. Pyle. “Never before has the development of America’s abundant and accessible energy supplies made more economic or strategic sense. It’s our hope that people will watch this video and consider the urgency of its message. Now is the time to put access to affordable energy at the top of our nation’s economic agenda.”
The video, with a run-time under four minutes, features the combined insights of IER experts and everyday Americans interviewed on the street – many of whom continue to be impacted by the wild swings of an extraordinarily volatile energy market. “The real moral dilemma for the United States,” argues Dan Kish, senior vice president of IER, “is that we’ve been sitting on our hands on our own energy supplies … and not developing them, asking others around the world to deliver us affordable, abundant, reliable oil supplies. Those days are over. We’re going to have to produce more of our own energy.”
