Brian Wilson, a Fox News correspondent, examines offshore oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and asks the question, “is it really worth the risk?” Wilson explains that we have been drilling in that region since the 1940’s. Right now, the Gulf of Mexico provides 10% of the crude oil we use each day, which is about equal to the amount from Canada, our largest provider of imported crude oil. Daniel Kish of the Institute for Energy Research explains in the video that if we reduce oil production, then we will reduce prosperity. Brian Wilson leaves us with an anecdote of the oil shortages of the 1970’s, when OPEC withheld just 7% of the oil it had been exporting.
