Today, the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming held a hearing on the global green energy race. The bottom line: this hearing is designed to create an ominous discrepancy between China and the United States’ green energy production.

Despite the fact that the United States produces 25 percent more wind energy than China and ranks 4th in the world in solar energy, the Administration and other members of Congress are actively pushing for more green energy over traditional resources.  The areas China is outpacing the United States are in utility capacity for coal-fired electricity, nuclear, and hydroelectric generating technologies.

Meanwhile, the Administration is ignoring action that would immediately produce American energy and jobs: lifting the Gulf moratorium.

IER’s Dan Kish wrote testimony for the hearing on the Global Energy Race, which takes an in-depth look at China and the United States’ green energy generation. You can view it here.
